I'd love to walk through this village with you
See the baffled faces I've known for years
Break the usual sight
Out of the windows of those too observant
On a weekday afternoon
Walk these streets, well known to me
And tell you tales
And all there is to know about this place that's been my home
For sixteen years now
Grass and fields and bricks and tar
But on the inside that little bit more
Which I'd like to show you
Open that secret door, and let you in
But not until I've heard your impressions
Outsider view
And I'd like to see the ruddy faces of the ones who mock me
For my boyish looks
For stepping out alone
For giving up my seat
For buying into culture
And choosing the backstreets over the main stretch
Yes I'd love them to see me with you
Walking
Talking
Laughing
Side by side
Through the winding ways of my home town
And they could stare until the light burnt out their eyes for all I care

As I've said when I posted my only other poem, I don't write poetry
Prose, journalism, this I can do
Not so much the poetry lol
However, I was feeling far too sentimental last night, and started writing general ramblings, and it developed into this, which is almost poetry haha
The only rereading I've done of it was while typing it, so it remains thoughts with a rythm
But I quite liked it
And was bored
So decided to post it anyway
